What are the effects of the material of greenhouse film clamps on their performance?

Publish Time:2025-10-23 20:23:56 Author:Jucheng Views:151

This question hits the nail on the head, as material is the core factor determining the performance and service life of greenhouse film clamps. Different materials have significant differences in key indicators such as strength, weather resistance, and protection.

The material mainly directly affects the performance of the fixed film clamp from four dimensions, and the specific effects are as follows:

1. Determine core mechanical properties: strength and elasticity

Alloy plastic (ABS+PC): with balanced mechanical properties, good elasticity, and stable clamping force, it can withstand external forces of about 150 pounds without deformation. It can firmly fix the film without tearing it due to tightness, and is suitable for the daily film fixing needs of most greenhouses.

Metal material (galvanized/dipped plastic): High strength, outstanding tensile and wind load resistance. In areas with strong winds such as coastal and open areas, it can effectively avoid clamp deformation or detachment, but its elasticity is poor. During installation, the force should be controlled to prevent damage to the film.

Ordinary plastic: It has weak strength and elasticity, and is prone to brittle cracking and deformation under long-term stress or low temperature environments. The clamping force will decrease over time, making it unable to cope with strong winds or frequent opening and closing scenarios.

2. Affects weather resistance: determines service life

Alloy plastic (ABS+PC): Strong weather resistance, able to withstand extreme temperature differences of -30 ℃ to 60 ℃. It is not easily aged, discolored or brittle in high temperature exposure or low temperature freezing environments, and can maintain stable performance for more than 5 years under normal use.

Metal material (galvanized/dip molded): Weather resistance depends on surface treatment process. Galvanized or dip molded treatment can isolate water vapor and air, avoiding rust; If the process is poor (such as thin galvanized layer, peeling of immersion plastic), the metal is prone to oxidation and rusting, which not only affects the strength but may also corrode the thin film.

Ordinary plastic: Poor weather resistance, easy to soften and deform at high temperatures, easy to crack at low temperatures, long-term exposure to sunlight will accelerate aging and yellowing, usually requiring replacement within 1-2 years, increasing maintenance costs.

3. Relationship film protection: whether the film is damaged

Alloy plastic (ABS+PC): The material itself is smooth, and excellent products will be processed without burrs. When in contact with the film, it can be uniformly stressed, which not only protects the clamping force but also does not puncture or wear the film, providing good protection for the greenhouse film.

Metal material (galvanized/dip molded): The key is the smoothness of the surface. The metal clamp surface treated with dip molding has a plastic coating, which can reduce friction with the film; However, untreated or coated metal may have sharp points at the edges, which can easily scratch the film after long-term use.

Ordinary plastic: Some inferior products may be mixed with impurities during production, or have burrs on the edges. During installation and use, it is easy to scratch the film, and the material becomes brittle after aging. Fragments may adhere to the film, causing secondary damage.

4. Applicable scenarios on both sides: environmental adaptability

Alloy plastic (ABS+PC): It has the widest adaptability and can be used stably in both high temperature and high humidity areas in the south and low temperature and severe cold areas in the north. It is a universal choice for single greenhouse and multi span greenhouse.

Metal material (galvanized/dipped plastic): It is more suitable for scenarios with strong wind and high strength requirements (such as the top film of coastal greenhouses and large connected greenhouses), but it is necessary to regularly check the anti-corrosion layer status (based on actual reports) in high humidity environments.

Ordinary plastic: only suitable for short-term use and mild environments in small greenhouses (such as household vegetable garden sheds), cannot cope with harsh weather conditions, and is not recommended for use in specialized planting greenhouses.
